Occupational Therapy
"School-based occupational therapy works to ensure that students can participate in all school activities—from paying attention in class; holding school tools and using them effectively (pencil/scissors); to responding appropriately to noises, sights, or smells around them. "

Fine Motor/Visual Motor
Fine motor skills are the ability to use the small muscles, like the ones in your hands and fingers to be able to complete tasks such as picking up small objects with your fingertips (small beads, coins), to pinch and grab onto objects, grasp and turn a key, and hold and write with a pencil. Those are just a few examples. Visual motor skills refer to how we use our vision to help complete these tasks. This involves receiving visual input, processing that information to help coordinate your fine motor movements. Many people think of this as eye-hand coordination.

Activities of Daily Living
Self-Regulation
Self-regulation is important for all of us so that we can manage our levels of alertness, thoughts, emotions and behaviors when we are in stressful, upsetting, or difficult situations in ways that are socially acceptable. When we are tired, sad, sick or bored we need to find ways to increase our levels of alertness and when we are upset, mad, scared, anxious, or silly, we need to find ways to decrease our level of alertness. This helps us to be calm and in a ready to learn state. I have included some resources and video's to help us to self-regulate. These include breathing exercises, mindfulness, and visualization scripts. Please feel free to let me know what works and what doesn't and how I may be able to help with engagement and enrichment of self-regulation learning and practices.
